Professional Lineage and Acknowledgement of Influences
The IPPD course, especially myself as the founder, co-developer and primary instructor, acknowledges our teachers. Here is our professional Lineage:
My work formed out of several professional fields:
- Somatic Trauma Resolution: Somatic Experiencing© and Anna Chitty's Blueprint Resonance. My teachers are in the upper right hand corner.
- Somatic Therapy, Bodywork and Energy Work: Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Polarity, and Jim Feil's Formative Embodiment. I learned Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy through Franklyn Sills who learned it as an osteopath and translated it for lay bodyworkers like myself. I learned Polarity and Energetic bodywork from John Chitty and Anna Chitty. Much of my work draws from what they have taught me. Through them, I earned my Polarity Life Coach designation, but I learned how to help people integrate challenging states and experiences through their expertise and educational programs. John was a direct mentor for me for 7 years until his death in 2019. I apply what I have learned from them to my work with families and babies. John had a particular love for babies. I have inherited his love, generated a lot of my own, and continue to teach Working with Babies.
- Prenatal and Perinatal Somatics: This is the work of Ray Castellino, and he learned it from birth psychology pioneers William Emerson and others who were in the prenatal and perinatal psychology (PPN) fields. I have studied with William Emerson, Karlton Terry, Myrna Martin, Ray Castellino, Mary Jackson, Tara Blasco and I partner with many of the Castellino graduates and legacy teachers. I am an Approved Womb Surround Facilitator, Advanced Family Practitioner and a practitioner of Prenatal and Perinatal Somatics. I have developed my own bodywork sequence for adults to help integrate overwhelming states.
- Embryology and the Work of Jaap van der Wal: I have taken Jaap van der Wal's seminal course, The Embryo in Us: Human as Embryo four times. I have developed my teaching of incarnation and the prenatal period on his work blending spirituality with anatomy. It is the ground of our humanity.
- Midwifery: I am blessed to have been in relationship with Lois Trezise, CNM who taught me what happens at birth from a midwife's perspective. I also have learned from Mary Jackson. I developed our model of care based on my partnership with Lois where we taught families about birth together. She caught the babies, and I caught the families. That is the basis for the Little House model, and the Integrated Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics program.
