Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, I am Kate White. I am the Founder and Director of the Center for Prenatal and Perinatal Programs, and the Prenatal and Perinatal Somatics Institute. I have developed educational and training programs in understanding the baby's experience, especially how to prevent and treat birth trauma, as co-creator of Integrated Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics, and Founding Director of the Education Department at APPPAH, creator of the Prenatal and Perinatal Educator Certificate Program. I have been taking care of families during the prenatal and postpartum period since 1995, when I became a massage therapist. I made the decision to become a massage therapist while I was living and working in Africa in maternal and child health. Even though Ioved my work in Africa on the clinical and national level, I felt called to return home. I knew I wanted to work as a clinician, so it was either massage school or medical school. I am so happy that I chose my vocation, and over many years of practice and study, I specialized in the prenatal and perinatal period, understanding birth and birth trauma, working with birth professionals and how to work with babies. Over decades of practice and study, I have built healing arts centers, created educational departments and centers, and now have trainings of my own.

This course is made for parents who want understand the importance of welcoming babies into their lives. It is a very special but vulnerable time in human development. My training program for professionals follows the same layers of experience that I have created here, and my graduates are ideal for helping you as professionals to work with the principles, practices and information in this course. Those who are available are Early Family Somatics professionals that you can contact for support, and attend classes they create as part of the Little House Model.

My training program is called Integrated Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics. I tell my students and graduates that you are the professionals that are in the Little House next to the hospital system that has smoke coming out of the chimney because there is a warm fire of welcome in the hearth, and a sign out front saying, "Healing Happens Here." Families come to the Little House to learn about the sensitive and sentient nature of babies, and their own importance of being the best versions of themselves as they expand their families. In the Little House, we welcome you, and help you understand your own early layers of experience, what patterns may lay in your bodies from childhood and your lineage that may influence yourselves in present time, and your children. We can gently help you integrate your experiences to create an open, welcoming space for your family to expand into.

Welcome to our "Little House." It may not be a physical structure, but it for sure is a welcoming energetic and professional space where we can support you before you give birth and catch you afterwards if there are any challenges. Please explore our sections for your integration and healing.

I am writing this from my home in Chapel Hill, NC. I want to acknowledge that people who originally cared for this land, the Occaneechi Saponi people who are still here today.
